Team leader Professor Wasim Saman, Director of Research, ISST
PhD, Master of Science, Bachelor of Science
Wasim Saman has a considerable track record in developing and implementing sustainable systems and technologies including solar and energy efficient heating and cooling systems and solar lights. He led the development and implementation of a methodology for evaluating and reducing energy use in new housing developments. He also led the research project to validate heating and cooling energy requirements predicted by AccuRate energy rating software. He is currently involved in developing a new energy rating tool for Australian and New Zealand housing and is a Chief Investigator of NATHERS Peak load Research.
Intelligent Grid Projects: New Housing Estate
Team members Professor Barbara Pocock, Director, Centre for Work + Life
PhD, B achelor of Economics (Hons).
Barbara leads a centre that researches the interactions of work, home, family and community and the lived and policy implications of those interactions. The Centre considers socio-economic and spatial differences, gender differences, work-care flows and the ethic of care. The Centre’s research has national and international components.
Intelligent Grid Projects: Housing Estate Pilot Doctor Edward Halawa, Research Associate, ISST
PhD, Master of Engineering, Bachelor of Enineering
Edward Halawa has worked on various energy systems modelling including solar hot water systems and application of renewable energy in residential buildings. He was involved in the research project to validate heating and cooling energy requirements predicted by AccuRate energy rating software. He is currently involved in the NATHERS Peak load Research.
Intelligent Grid Projects: Housing Estate Pilot Doctor Frank Bruno, Senior Research Fellow, ISST
PhD, Bachelor of Engineering
Frank Bruno has in-depth expertise in solar air space heating systems, phase change energy storage, low energy air conditioning and heat transfer in buildings. He has conducted a number of testing on various air conditioning systems for thermal performances evaluation.
Intelligent Grid Projects: Housing Estate Pilot Doctor Jane Edwards, Research Associate, Centre for Work + Life
